Every day we discuss a randomly determined card of the day as it pertains to the Commander format. This is done by my going over to Scryfall and hitting the random button until a viable card comes up. Not all cards are created equal though, and as such when the various grizzly bears|5ed and hill giant|4eds come up, decisions are made to "re-roll" for something worth talking about. Originally started on @mtgsally, I carried this game over to @mtgnexus and have been keeping this game going since day one. It really is the simple things in life that makes this place go round, I guess.

Hey awesome! Glad someone is going to continue the tradition we started so many years ago.

Wouldn't be the same without it.

I didn't even know this card existed, and I got a box of Dragons. It's....alright I guess. It's instant so there's that. It could see some play in like a fairly casual God-Eternal Kefnet build maybe.

Completely new here. I found mtgSal just as the announcement went up about it closing down, so I never signed up.

My cents on the card. Way overcosted. Unless you're running some mono-blue bounce kind of deck, where you need every single bounce'y card, there are many other cards that'll do this for a lot less. Unless there is something about "2 creatures" that you really need to play off of.

Pretty clearly a limited card, but if I had to put it in an EDH deck it can reset ninjas, clear a path for ninjas, and do damage in Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow

I don't believe there's a strictly better version of this available, but yeah, I can't imagine wanting to pay six mana for this even in a really casual/budget deck.

The only deck of the many I've played that might consider this was Myojin of Seeing Winds, where bounce spells became draw 10+ cards, so I had 10+ bounce effects (and I'm pretty sure I never played this one).

There's at least a couple: Mystic Confluence and Quicksilver Geyser.

This is way too overcosted for me to even consider it, especially when there are much better options available. It's not niche enough to merit running as copy #3 of the effect either. I'd rather go to either mass bounce, sorcery speed with more upside, or repeatable activated abilities over this 100% of the time.

Ouch. Inauspicious start. None too great removal even in Limited - I never need the bounce redundancy that bad (although Quicksilver Geyser isn't "strictly better" in cases of land creatures).
Psst, check the second page of Custom Card Contests & Games! Because of the daily contests, a lot of games fall down to there.

There's Withdraw, which most likely will be used to bounce one or two of your own guys. But technically, it could do the same as Waterwhirl.

I'm a big fan of Earthquake and Hurricane, they're wrath effects from the less conventional wrath colors that you can build around to be Plague Wind-ish. That being said, you can't build your way to avoiding both, making Heaven // Earth not totally appealing to me, and the lack of player damage is huge. I've killed people with Earthquake a lot.

Might consider it in a jund graveyard based deck as looting value.

I'd have to choose Lavalanche over this just because of it dealing damage to the player as well. Maybe I'd run this if I were creating a very creature light deck and I needed some sweepers.

As a wrath it is very expensive and red has access to better ones. Against flyers it is underwhelming. Not hitting players is bad, as squall line and Hurricane may double as powerful finishers.

Eh, on the other hand, it's awkward to have a sweeper in your hand and you can't use it because it kills you. But how often are you going to be that defensive in a R/G deck?

July 6th, 2019. Patchwork Gnomes.

Wow, I haven't seen a card this bad in a long time, and I've justified some pretty narrowly useful cards over the years.

If nothing else, it's a free discard outlet. Gotta get your hand empty for Barren Glory somehow.

There are better and cheaper free discard outlets, fwiw, but hey - this is colorless.

Oh, it's a choice. I glanced at it when I got the random card and thought it was a random discard. Which of course would be beyond awful.

"here's a three mana 2/1 in colourless, but you only can protect it with random discards." Tch, just give me Masticore already smdh.

I haven't played it or seen it played really but it's good to know there's a colorless unconditional discard outlet shall it be needed...

Yeah the only time I can see running this is some really odd madness build where you don't have access to blue or black.
