Seems fine. This is defensive in a way that red can do.

"Cards with power, toughness, or converted mana cost 6 or more are monumental." No?

You are probably aware that currently "6" is used for p/t and "six" spelled out is used for cmc.

Converted mana cost is a numeral and not a number word so the reminder text is templating-accurate, not that it has to be, being reminder text.

Technically that reminder text is not wrong and works fine for this card, but I wanted a universal reminder text that also applies to noncard objects e. g. tokens and also spells without haiving to change the wording every time. On actual cards I might go for an adpative reminder text, but on proof-of-concept custom cards I go with the lazy route. : )

Part of my reason to choose cmc, power and toughness was that they are all numerals, actually. If one of them would have been a number word I probably would have not picked it up.

...Huh. I know Eyes are black but although Reflective Eye has an ability that is obviously part blue, I feel like the second color for it is more green. Could you justify it in black somehow?

If it had a graveyard involvement in the change, or it was detrimental to control, then Lazav, Dimir Mastermind would be plenty of reason for it to fit the color pie.

I think you may be correct that the black is a little subtle, but converting your own permanent into another form is to me effectively "Sacrifice/Exile a permanent you control. If you do, create a token that is a copy of ~." So it's similar to Bloodsoaked Altar and Archdemon of Unx in its effect (or ), but using quite blue means, which I'm fine with on a blue card (after all just sacrificing any permanent wouldn't be fine on a monocolored black card either).

Interestingly since I came up with the concept I noticed that the offensive use of this kind of ability has been all over the colors, so the color wheel is still spinning on this. My intent here is was specifically to support two game plans that black could make use of (a) increasing the size of tokens and (b) ridding yourself of creatures that already have a black-typical drawback that you no longer want to support (e. g. Dark Confidant).

Green recently has been defined as "makes more copies of its own stuff" (as opposed to blue which is open to copying opponents' stuff) but turning other things into copies of a creature itself has been all over the place - and setting big p/t has not been a green-only thing either, so I consider this mechanical space a little more open to different color interpretations. For black and especially Eyes this is an expression of "I'm so great. What the world really needs to be is remade in my image. Literally." I think it works mechanically, because a 5/5 Demon that lets you sacrifice a creature to summon a second 5/5 Demon would probably perfectly fine in monocolored black, but I wanted to move past the sacrifice-trope so Eyes can feel a little different from Demons.

So basically it's the blue "Polymorph" effect and Black's "Sacrifice to summon" effect? In the constraints of gold cards, given results-oriented concerns rather than being concerned with literal card text, it seems in line. The big difference in result is the lack of ability to cheat back into play over "Target player sacrifices a creature of your choice, then puts a 5/5 Black and Blue Eye creature token into play." It's also far more straightforward formatting, as you work around the ETB trigger with the direct conversion.

Using a Sacrifice trigger this way over Destroys gets around almost every protection, including the Shround and Hexproof this doesn't because you only target the creature's controller, but breaks a lot of precedent in taking away the choice, though such forced control effects have usually been heavy-duty Blue, so it still fits.

Ah, I love that. Flagbearers are a pet mechanic of mine and this is a great riff.

I also just love Invasion callbacks and flavor riffs period.
