Norse world, Wild West world, Rand McNally where they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people. Where do you think we'll go and where do you want to go?

A Norse inspired world would be cool. A few vehicles, definitely some equipment, maybe some snow-matters stuff. Might even be another round of Gods, which honestly I feel are getting old at this point. Odin-magic-fied as a 5 color legend could be cool I guess.

Personally I think a redo on Kamigawa through a Native American lens would be great. A lot of their spirits would be as cool and weird, but I honestly don't think Wizards would touch that idea with anything but a Door to Nothingness. Could be the old world versus the new, like a nature versus tech thing.

I'm hoping that Phyrexia is around the corner. With the Proliferate floating around, it would make a lot of cross sense there, but I'm unsure how it would fit in otherwise, and there is no clue about it in the Core Set. Maybe it's just smoke.

Norse world... Hope they don't go too heavily into the usual gods and go Valhalla-centric. Taking the opportunity to explore the lore and balance the accepted view. However, after the recent examples of 'adapting' mythology, I'm expecting to be disappointed.

A return to Dominaria would be good. Do the place justice this time. Spend a couple of sets there.

Theros. Not keen, but Helios needs to get his and Elspeth Returned is the one to do it.

Very intrigued by some of the hints regarding Phyrexian oil being found on Ixalan.

Go back to Amonkhet. See what Hazoret has wrought, and what's tried to take advantage.

Going back to a reunited Alara would either be a triumph or a debacle.

I'd like them to visit the rest of planes referenced in Planechase. (Not sure how many have been visited in the years since, don't think it's a huge number.)

Places I don't want to visit: Ravnica, Innistrad, Zendikar.

I can see a return to Tarkir happening in a few years, especially if they want to bring back the wedges. People loved the clans!

Theros is a given, I'd bet (and many others would, too) real money on it happening in Winter or Spring. Just keep ripping our hearts out with the tragedy of Elspeth and Daxos, Wizards... And hopefully Heroic would be returning because UW Heroic was my favorite Standard deck ever.

The Camelot-style world they've teased seems like a real possibility in the next two years. The calendar heavily hinted that Will and Rowan are from there ("spreading knightly virtues") and Kasmina could be a Merlin-type figure. It would probably be a gorgeous set, too.

I'd bet that within three years, we'll have a return to Innistrad with a focus on Davriel. He deserves a proper card that depicts his abilities and there's so many plot threads there! Hopefully they'll just leave Emrakul in the moon for now (or forever).

Vryn seems like a given, since there's such an easy plot thread to follow with Jace.

I'm always up for more Ravnica, just because I'm a huge Izzet and Ral fangirl. :P But, I think outside of the story, we'll have to wait another five years or so for a return.

It was also confirmed by Wizards employees that the use of the word Ichor (and the dark possible interpretation of the flavor text) had nothing to do with Phyrexians, despite the word's heavy association with them in the game... So no Phyrexian dinosaurs for us. :( I don't expect us to return for a long time.

I don't expect us to return to Zendikar anytime soon, either. After the major flop of Battle for Zendikar block, there's a lot of negative feelings surrounding it and they'd have to get it absolutely perfect.

All I ask for is a Return to Theros and a visit to Vryn focused on Jace. At some point in the game, I'd like a visit to Kamigawa with a focus on Tamiyo and her family. Even if it isn't in a standard-legal set.

Frankly, I'd like a mono-Blue Tamiyo to show up anywhere at this point.

Nordic plane (maybe with Angrath?) seems likely. From returning planes most probably it will be firstly Theros (still unfinished business with Elspeth), maybe Vrynn (not sure with change of poster-face switch from Jace to Chandra). Kamigawa is highly unlikely (although I will love it).

I... really have to catch up on a lot of lore it seems.

It is kind of hard for me to look through the two set system right now with recent releases.
And despite Innistrad being one of my favourite planes ever, we only just visited. I can see Theros coming soon, but not next.
Apart from that I also forget what the stance was on Return to Lorwynn/Shadowmoor. I miss my Faes.

I'm not that deep in the lore rn from taking a hiatus from magic. With War of the Spark we 'defeated' another big evil and helped Liliana's background. Kaladesh went into Chandra's background.
I went into hiatus right after Kaladesh but Ravnica and Ixalan seemed to be more Jace centric?
The Eldrazi went to sleep in Innistrad.

From what I see we're kind of in lack of a big evil again? Also we're developing the backstories of the Gatewatch.
Maybe this is the time for Garruk to catch up? Would be a nice twist now that Liliana has dealt with most of her past.
Getting really speculative here, might as well put some Phyrexian influence into him.

I'm hoping for this too, but in the form of the cleansing of Mirrodin. If this was the route they went, it would probably mean either delaying the set a while so as to not off the Phyrexians so soon, or have the Phyrexians develop technology to move between the planes so that they've spread before Karn arrives.

Purely as a "hoping for" angle rather than an "expecting" one, I wanna see the next set travel to somewhere that humans aren't dominant and teach us about another race of beings. Speaking as someone who mostly picks up world-building ideas from the cards rather than chasing down the novels and comic, I think the Azra could use a lot of explanation, and I'd love to know why the Viashino appear on Ravnica and Jund as well as Dominaria. Less of the "here's our adaptation of a given human civilization", more "here's a deeper dive into the weirder stuff about our game."

My guesses;

Next new world: Garruk on Nordic/Viking themed world. Baseless speculation since they had a reason for Garruk not being in War (like Yanling being saved for the Core Set) just feels right in the same way Elspeth on Theros felt, speaking of...

Next return world: Theros, gatewatch goes for Gideons funeral (minus Liliana and Kaya doing their own story arc) and this leads to the rescue of Elspeth.

My hope: Fairy tale world that uses a mix of dark "Grimm" and bright "disney" tropes.

Also think Will, Rowan and Kasmina will appear sometime soon as well.

Tezzeret stole it, incorporated it in his body and used it to create the portal needed to transport the Dreadhorde to Ravnica.

As much as I love Innistrad, I don't think we'll be back there in the next three or four years. They usually take much time to go back to planes: Ravnica was 2006, 2012 and 2018, so six years at least.

The Norse / snowy world will be one of the next ones for sure. However, I don't really know if having Snow lands in MH1 is really a clue or just a hint that we'll go there but not yet.

A return to Theros is definitely happening before Summer 2020!

Maro told us that we won't be getting Snow cards in Standard for a while.

Tezzeret has canonically interacted with the Phyrexians before, he's the biggest villain to make it out of WAR alive, and he possesses the technology to transport half-artifact zombies (you know, such as the Phyrexians) across planes. So I'd say Phyrexians returning as the next big villains, with Tezzeret being revealed as the one pulling their strings, is more or less guaranteed.

That said, I do believe it will take a while to get there. We know for a fact the next plane to be visited will be a brand new one, and there probably are going to be a couple fanservice-driven returns to a couple older planes as well, before the next iteration of the plot really picks up.

This could be done as a Lorwyn return quite easily, actually, given that, IIRC, the conclusion to the isolated storyline was that it regularly shifts between the mess of Shadowmoor and the pleasant Lorwyn, or the two are blanced out but mixed together so there's some bright and some dark.

No humans = no princesses means fail.

But honesty I don't think Lorwyn/Shadowmoor would work It was fairy tale/story like but I'm wanting things like princess being cursed, princes in disguise/transfigured, fairy godmothers, woodland creatures helping out with chores, evil stepmother, ect Lorwyn/Shadowmoor was much more magic doing Celtic myths/ "fairy stories" than real fairy tales (well as much as Ravnica is slavic). I rather a new world and let Lorwyn/Shadowmoor keep its own identity.

To be quite honest, the only hint to Norse world is the fact that Angrath mentioned Kaldheim once during Ixalan events. Ah, and MaRo's words about the brand new world. Snow in Modern Horizons, however, hints it won't have a snow subtheme which, IMO, makes it less likely.
Still, better hint than no hints at all.

if I may

im hoping for a return to phyrexia. . .my logic will stem around the "evergreening" of colored artifacts. what better plane than a plane full of. . .I mean mirrodin is basically a super petri dish for the evolution of what it is to be phyrexian.

sadly, from what I understand (by reading maro articles, like weekly, for a long time) Lowryn hit low cause it has no human race.
so im not sure we will ever go back. . .(yes what do I know and I would look forward to it cause I <3 treefolk. . .Doran is my "guy")

what would be cool? to me? I would like to go back to Alara for the "separation" into different shards

I support the Nordic world. . .as the Nordic god structure is pretty cool. . .exile being vahalla or whatever

more snow. . .love love love that white powder (and also innuendos) both cause I missed ice age. . .and just the block blah blah blah that is ice age was wack with the coldsnap being so far gone. . .heck they could even just straight up rerelease the ice age block as is in order and I would be happy as a eskimo on a seal.

anyway, til again

I don't know if this is the best place for this but

today

I saw on my twitter feed that hasbro now has the rights to death row records (well indie studio entertainment one which owns death row)

if I catch any hint in Eldraine a story about a young poet who grew up in the hustle and was murdered

also if you had to make a world around this it would be pretty easy, I'm sure there are a few album covers that tell a story.
what colors would Suge Knight be?

Tezzeret's planar bridge. It seems to have been used to transport Bolas army of eternals into Ravnica. Although I don't know what happened to it after Bolas got defeated.
