Unfortunately, in the age of COVID-19, most magic being played is being played via webcam, often against random opponents. Under those conditions, social pressures that are a component in consistent play groups don't really exist.
Even without Covid, there are a lot of players, like myself, who just kind of have to play with whomever shows up to your LGS that day. Not everyone has a consistent group even in the best of times for those kinds of group metas to form.

------------------

I don't necessarily think Jeweled Lotus needs any kind of immediate action, but adding to the pool of fast mana options is an overall net negative, I think. On that front, the design is really disappointing.

Archelos, Lagoon Mystic

So they basically created a commander that is half Amulet of Vigor and half... I'm not really sure. There are plenty of cards that cause things to enter the battlefield tapped. But I can't think of anything off the top of my head that causes everything.

Either way, I think he is a cool and unique commander. And I love his lore. My only concern is that he basically causes Amulet Titan to become an EDH deck.

Also I have a feeling the rabbitfolk mentioned in Archelos' lore is the "Legendary Creature – Rabbit Wizard" from Maro's teasers.

Finally, what really excites me about this card is that it implies that their is an anthropomorphic animal plane. I hope we get to see it.

Kismet / Frozen Aether are probably the closest examples. The effects generally fall into what is known as Stasis (its both a card and a type of deck). You usually pair tap down new stuff with refusal to untap currently tapped things such as Winter Orb / Static Orb / Hokori, Dust Drinker / Tangle Wire. Its usually somewhat strongly frowned on in metas that are not playing more competitive combo type metas.
I really should've remembered Kismet / Frozen Aether, since I've played with both of them.

Either way, I really like Archelos, Lagoon Mystic as a card. I'm just wondering if their is a fun/fair way to play him and not just Amulet Titan / TurboStax.

I think you can play Archelos, Lagoon Mystic fair pretty easily. If you're largely using him as "my stuff comes in untapped, your's comes in tapped", but don't include much or any of the "your stuff doesn't untap", it becomes a lot fairer. Sure, you can do some disgusting ramp... but that comes with the territory of being Sultai, and really doesn't strike me as "unfair". If you're just making stuff etb tapped, but not locking it down, that feels "fair" to me.

Archelos, Lagoon Mystic!

Cycling lands? Untapped!
Lazy zombie tokens? Untapped!
Worn Powerstone? Untapped!

I'm tired and unimaginative today, but I'm sure it'll be nuts. Good flavor text, too.
Flavorfully seems like Time Vault would be fun.

Archelos mostly seems like he'll be unfun as an Amulet of Vigor / Frozen Aether + Root Maze commander, but one thing I thought of: Perilous Forays + any landfall token maker = "search your library for every land with a basic land type and put it onto the battlefield". Add more landfall for more nonsense.

This is probably a silly question but. Does the second ability on Archelos, Lagoon Mystic nullify the abilities on Thalia, Heretic Cathar and Urabrask the Hidden and other similar cards when he is in play along with them?

I think it should. It's a replacement effect you can also choose to apply turtle's effect last.

I believe multiple effects like them uses time stamp; the newest one covers up previous ones.

With the caveat of "this is a new effect so we should consult the release notes to be sure": @illakunsaa has it right. All of those are replacement effects and the affected object's controller would simply choose the order they apply. This may also become important if two of these Turtles are on the field at the same time with different tapped/untapped statuses. Basically, as long as one is untapped, people can have their stuff enter untapped even if something else says otherwise.

Well, luckily, Stasis turns off Seedborn Muse :) (Though, that doesn't take away from Stasis being a huge pain in the ass there :P )

Not a huge fan of those etched borders or whatever they are called, but the Orzhov legends (Thalisse and Tymna) look amazing in them.

Promise of Tomorrow has a lot of .. promise.

You could pair it up with graveyard recursion creatures to get continuous value/protection out of it potentially.
Sun Titan, Auramancer, Griffin Dreamfinder, Lagonna-Band Storyteller, Lotus-Eye Mystics, Monk Idealist, Pharika's Mender, Trusty Retriever, Golgari Findbroker, Greenwarden of Murasa, Eternal Witness.
It being 3 cmc or less is nice, I missed that when looking at it initially. That said, it doesn't fix the biggest issue with the card: If it gets blown up by anything other than the end step trigger, those creatures are gone for good. So it's hard to justify sticking stuff like Sun Titan under it, unless you can guarentee that end step trigger is going off soon... and even then, it's risky. So it's hard to run along side other recursion, since you risk removing those targets for it.

I adore War Room. Seems like an auto-include for Daretti and Heliod (and in general for any monocolored commander, but especially mono-red or mono-white). Also super awesome for colorless Commanders as a 4 mana draw on a land. I'd still consider it for 2-color commanders - I'd generally pay 2 life for a card, although also paying 4 is a bit steep. Maybe in Gitrog Monster because I like to run a billion lands anyhow? Like the dreaded Jeweled Lotus it's neat for a design to reward single colors since otherwise 3+ Colors are so much more powerful in EDH - a bolt for a card likely makes this bad in most three-color decks (although Phelddagrif might just think about it...) and Golos Lava Axeing himself is totally untennable.

WotC can barely design cards for Standard so it's no surprise that they design a completely ridiculous card for EDH.

I played a game tonight on Spelltable/PlayEDH with a pod that included Krark. It was hilarious fun to play against and looked like it would be fun as heck to pilot.
I have 68 active EDH decks, with more in progress. I don't consider this a problem. Do you?
I am also one of those barbarians who enjoys winning by turning creatures sideways.
