I didn't see a thread on Jeskai Fires even though it's one of the better decks, so I thought I'd start a thread on it. Basically Jeskai Fires is probably what I'd call a comboish deck with a pretty aggressive kill. Its goal is to get a fires of invention out, which lets you play 2 spells for free per turn as long as their cmc is equal or less than the amount of lands you have. so you can get that on 4, do something else on 4. then turn 5 you can get the blue and red cavaliers to swing in for a lot of damage.

here's a pretty stock list
I played it a bit on arena to pretty mediocre success, mostly lost to aggro starts.
Can anyone give strategy advice for the deck or does anyone have any other thoughts on the deck right now?
Of course we just got a new set, which might impact the format more

This deck has had notable successes recently. Nick Prince dishes on TCGPlayer.

not sure if deck is actually good still or I just ran hot today but I went 4-2 at the Disorganized Wizards Club Isolational on Arena today. Turned an 0-2 start into a 4-2 finish, good enough for 12th out of 48.

Round 1 I lost to UW Blink 1-2. Game 1 they were able to board wipe enough to keep me off pressure and recover from their own wraths. Game 2 I was able to put enough pressure on to win. Game 3 I drew all 4 of my fires, not much else.

0-1, not how I wanted to start.

Round 2 Temur Rec makes quick work of me, beating me 2-0. I didn't know how to play into this match so that didn't help. Kept playing into counters and they were able to do some sweet rec tricks

0-2, was really tempted to drop but my buddy told me to wait til I got my next loss. (hint, that didn't happen). My next 3 matches played out really similar.

Round 3 I 2-1 rakdos sac. Game 1 they were able to ping me to death with mayhem devil triggers. Games 2 and 3 I was able to use kenreth, the returned king to stabilize enough life to survive and get the win.

1-2, looking a bit better. avoided that third loss for this round

Round 4 I 2-1 Gruul aggro. game 1 I was able to use Kenreth to stabilize then get him on the back foot. game 2 I got cleaved. Game 3 Kenreth wins me the game again

2-2, looking good.

Round 5 I 2-1 mono red. Game 1 Kenreth gained me some more life. Game 2 he presented too much of a clock. Game 3 he kept what looked like a 1 lander and went a few turns without drawing a land. my hand was like double clarion, teferi, scry sphinx and fires. plus lands. so it was really good. drew into double cavalier of flame then finished him off from 12-0 in one turn.

3-2, what's loss number 3?

Round 6 I 2-1 bant ramp. Game 1 was back and fourth until he wins off of a large krasis. I decided I wanted to board to be the aggro deck, so I brought in my warbosses and robbers. Game 2 I won off making him use a wrath to deal with a warboss and their tokens, play another then make him deal with that and won off Kenreth. Game 3 we traded resoruces for a while again and I won off cavalier of flames again.

4-2, got me 12. not bad for starting 0-2 on a last minute audible to a deck I hadn't played much of in a while

I've still been playing fires after Ikoria, I feel like I should be doing much better since the deck seems so insane.

I just can't beat the decks that can go over the top of me such as Bant Ramp (whenever it comes up, not as common as before), Temur Rec and various Simic decks (mutate, ramp and Flash), can anyone help me out with these matchups or point me in the right direction with some content?
