Nykthos Exemplar is probably the nastiest whiterhoof ever, outside of Akroma's Will if you're on a lifegain theme.

Akroma's will with this guy would be hilariously lethal too, since on the first strike everyone would get +abillion :P

I am definitely planning to slot in a place for this guy in Karlov. Should be pretty insane there.
I have 68 active EDH decks, with more in progress. I don't consider this a problem. Do you?
I am also one of those barbarians who enjoys winning by turning creatures sideways.

& Dauthi Voidwalker may well be up there with Opposition Agent & Hullbreacher. The fact that you can cash it in to cast any nonpermanent spell anyone has cast since it's been on the battlefield (or before, in some cases) is huge.
I agree with you that Voidwalker is exceedingly powerful. And unless I missed something, there's no "nonpermanent" restriction on what you can cash it in for.
There isn't, but permanent spells don't typically go to the graveyard on their own. (Some do.) I was trying to present the worse-cast scenario. Even if nobody cares about their graveyard, you can still use Dauthi Voidwalker to copy the best instant or sorcery spell that'd been cast while it's been on the battlefield. & you can probably cast various permanent spells too, assuming there's been some removal.

I don't think I'll run Break the Ice but I'm all for more nonbasic hate. Manabases should be a consideration, with legitimate tradeoffs, rather than an attempt to cram in as much fixing as money can buy.
It doesn't really hate on fixing so much as utility lands (and tron lands). Sure, painlands, probably a few others, but not that much really. I doubt it'll be very good.

Yes there's the squirrel thing going on but there's also a subtler crab thing going on in this collection as well.

The Sythis alt border, oh my. (I understand what the Nyx is and all that, but I am not a fan of that coloring and the sparkles/stars. This version feels so much more harvest-y.)

Murktide Regent is another new dragon, how many of them did they put in this set? It's just a big dumb flyer but it can have a good power/MV ratio and keep growing after that. I'll put it in my dragon pile (plus I like the look of the sketched version).

Goblin Anarchomancer clearly looks like the draft signpost for gruul storm. Probably a worthy inclusion for Wort, the Raidmother decks.

I like Tavern Scoundrel, a cute and much more playable reference to Tavern Swindler (same artist by the way). I sadly don't play enough coin flips in my Golos deck to justify its inclusion though.

Nykthos Exemplar looks crazy in any big lifegain deck, I'm glad to see white get more lifegain tools after seeing all the new toys golgari received in Strixhaven.

Break the Ice seems like a "nice way to do MLD" but it's probably bad since you can't really control what you'll hit. It destroys pain lands but let stuff like Cabal Coffers or Gaea's Cradle roam free.

Resurgent Belief seems like a great budget or 2nd Replenish. Suspend 2 is pretty easy to work with. Definitely going to want a few copies.

Now that the full set is out, here are the cards I'm interested in. I'm not sure I'll be able to afford everything.

Esper Sentinel: I want a copy for various cEDH decks. Seems pretty strong.

Out of Time: As a sweeper for my creatureless Estrid, the Masked enchantments-matter list.

Resurgent Belief: For Rubinia Soulsinger|Legends enchantress deck. It doesn't run proxies & my copy of Replenish is with Estrid, so this should be an ok alternative. It's meant to be friendly & casual.

Solitude: Maybe for cEDH Heliod, Sun-Crowned, but only if the price drops a lot.

Timeless Dragon: For Kenrith, the Returned King cycling & for The Ur-Dragon.

Dress Down: For Estrid & Rubinia mentioned above. Possibly other decks as well. I'm a fan of this design.

Suspend: Possibly for a number of decks, particularly cEDH ones.

Damn: I'd like to pick up an old-frame version for my Merieke Ri Berit deck.

Dauthi Voidwalker: For cEDH, at least the Tymna/Kondo list I'm working on.

Profane Tutor: For Dakkon Blackblade|Legends because of the art. Maybe a copy for Yidris cEDH too, but probably not.

Persist: Perhaps for Sol'kanar the Swamp King|Legends reanimator deck. Old-border version for Vhati if I can.

Unmarked Grave: As above.

Vile Entomber: Might want the old-frame version for Vhati il-Dal.

Chef's Kiss: I figure I want this for something. Confusing flavor, but I like the crunch.

Faithless Salvaging: I'm sure this will fit in somewhere. Possibly in Hazezon Tamar.

Fast // Furious: Seems potentially useful.

Fury: For Saskia the Unyielding if cheap enough.

Galvanic Relay: Not sure where, but I love red-based spellslinger decks.

Obsidian Charmaw: Perhaps for The Ur-Dragon, but might be too mean or too expensive (in USD).

Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer: Definitely want this if I can accept the price. Probably for cEDH Godo, Bandit Warlord & for Esika, God of the Tree // The Prismatic Bridge legendary tribal.

Strike it Rich: Probably useful somewhere.

Endurance: For that Tymna/Kondo cEDHish deck.

Foundation Breaker: Not sure exactly where, but likely a new staple.

Ignoble Hierarch: For Ur-Dragon, Saskia, Yidris, etc.

Sanctum Weaver: For Rubinia enchantress at least.

Tireless Provisioner: Maybe for cEDH Tatyova, Benthic Druid.

Chrome Courier: For Golos, Tireless Pilgrim artifact deck.

Dakkon, Shadow Slayer: For Dakkon list.

Dihada's Ploy: As above.

General Ferrous Rokiric: For Niv-Mizzet Reborn.

Goblin Anarchomancer: Maybe for Rosheen Meanderer.

Master of Death: Possible include for Dakkon.

Sythis, Harvest's Hand: For Rubinia enchantress.

Yusri, Fortune's Flame: For Esika legends.

Brainstone: Might find a home. I like being able to put cards back into my library, & this is better than Conch Horn.

Diamond Lion: For Kozilek, the Great Distortion.

Liquimetal Torque: Considering for Godo & Kozilek.

Ornithopter of Paradise: For Xantcha, Sleeper Agent. Maybe other decks.

Void Mirror: I'm thinking for cEDH Godo, perhaps others.

Bridges: For Golos artifacts.

Power Depot: As above.

Urza's Saga: At least for Godo & Elsha of the Infinite cEDH, & possibly beyond.

Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth: At least for Kozilek, to tap Eye of Ugin for mana, & for Esika legends. Probably additional uses.

Archmage's Charm: Old-border version for Arcanis the Omnipotent if affordable.

Undead Augur: Old-border version for Vhati.

Talisman of Hierarchy: Old-border for Merieke.

I overhyped myself. No Wedge Elder Dragons except for Piru. :pensive:

Oh well, I'm sure by now the entire Wizards' staff is getting an earful about the other Wedge Elder Dragons. There's always the next set.

Sadly I think it's probably too strong for the stuff they print in standard at common so it might be quite a while.

I appreciate how all the Fallen Empires reference cards are underpowered in multiplayer, same as it ever was. Tourach's ill-placed as a mono-black discard legend here, and most of the hand-discard spells people like playing are very Grixis-y. goes with Mindslicer and Ill-Gotten Gains though? but wheel decks are pretty boring, perhaps it's for the best that you have to take him new directions. Svyelun's stuck in a tribe traditionally good at needling exactly one opponent, too. both are really insanely efficient cards but will probably land as the ninth best discard commander and a non-flying Kira? reminds me of Callaphe. just my guesses anyway, I don't keep up with what's most powerful. Will probably grab both because I'm a sucker for that silly old set, and maybe a set of the commons: they're pushed too much, probably good for lots of new pauper decks.

not really a sucker for the new age "old border" cards, they don't do it for me somehow? Kinda feels like a transparent "please don't quit our overpowered game with too many cards in it" ploy for people like me who have essentially given up on staying up-to-date with so many releases; it's not working, though.

The old border MH2 cards come as foil and nonfoil, right?
While the old border MH1 cards are ONLY foil, yes?

(Resurgent Belief in the old border looks cool, but I don't want any more foils in my life.)

That appears to be the case. The booster fun article about them says that non-foil retro frame cards can be found in set and draft boosters, while the retro frame cards from MH1 are only found in collector boosters.

Just want to note the flavor win of Burdened Aerialist. He won't see a lot of play, but the mechanics fit the story of the card quite well.
Playing EDH: Alesha Who Smiles at Death; Baba Lysaga, Night Witch; Emiel the Blessed; Breena, the Demagogue; Xenagos, God of Revels; Seton, Krosan Protector; Phelddagrif.

Not a ton of autoincludes in the set - a lot of the cards I have my eye on are variations on existing cards, and it isn't obvious whether they're an upgrade or downgrade overall (ex: Timeless Witness vs Eternal Witness, Foundation Breaker vs Reclamation Sage, Tireless Provisioner vs Lotus Cobra. There are also some Modern-playable downgrades of Legacy cards (such as EntombUnmarked Grave) that are less exciting when the original is already legal in EDH. That said, there are a few cards I'd definitely like to pick up.
Plus reprints like fetches and Cabal Coffers (although they'll probably still be out of budget).
