I think there's a fair argument to run Ohran Frostfang first, as that deathtouch is a great way to get extra value or get through on attacks you shouldn't, for only 1 mana more. I do agree that this is probably worth running over the various enchantment versions, with the possible exception of Kindred Discovery in a tribal deck.
The argument can be made but it's far from open and shut. it's a lot easier to rebuild after a sweeper with an indestructible coastal piracy than with your ohran frostfang in the bin. It also can't be reveillark'd or recruiter of the guarded, etc. Lots of advantages to the body in various colors.

And of course, Frostfang is an extremely counterable card that, if it is countered, can blow your entire gameplan.

(edit: misremembered frostfang's power as 3 for some reason :))

Agreed, there's upsides and downsides to both cards, I don't think either is a slam dunk over the other. I will point out than Ohran is reveillarkable, as that procs off power, not toughness. But yeah, they both have upsides/downsides, which is reasonable. I do agree that most of the "effect on body" versions are better than the enchantments.

Pretty sure I'll be running our new squirrel overlord along with Frostfang in some decks. More draw = good.
I have 68 active EDH decks, with more in progress. I don't consider this a problem. Do you?

Gonna be pretty hard to play the new BR saga without singing a little jam from Clerks.

Also, might be hard to play at all. It's a very specific card.

I expect that at least one person who has a tribal changeling deck might be happy if that leak is true.

Righteous Valk seems awesome for life gain-focused tribal decks, damn. That's a lot on a 3cmc critter.

Foretell seems weak given that's the green mythic...but Deathmist Raptor and Whisperwood Elemental do exist. Battle Mammoth/foretell at least plays along with Keruga as a companion.

Seems like a stronger Morph, and I think it will have at least one surprise. If it sticks around, I imagine some interesting shell games will come of it. I don't think green really wants a cut-rate Archetype of Endurance, though, regardless of Foretell.

I think the challenging part is that those tribes are still very narrow. Its not as if there aren't good angels / clerics out there but there still are incredibly few legends that give reasonable payoff in a way to incentivize you to push deep on any one of these two tribes. The few that exist seem..... not that great to be honest. I have for a long time hoped they would give us more tribal commanders but the slow stem of them seems to still be slow.

As far as it just being an anthem, honestly given the requirement I wouldn't even say that its really that good as just an anthem.

As I mentioned in another thread, the valkyrie seems quite playable as an anthem in Soul Sisters type wide lifegain decks. +2/+2 and buffing it's own flying body should not go overooked. Many of those decks already run enough clerics to get a couple triggers out of the first clause as well. Of the top creatures EDHREC lists across the lifegain archetype, ten are Clerics or Angels.

Angel tribal stuff is most often too battlecruisery, but there are some strong cleric synergies out there. I could see a cleric focused Aristocrats sot of thing working out well. Probably either with Orah, Skyclave Hierophant, or Tymna the Weaver + something.

I get this weird card blindness when I'm reading "extra cards" like stuff for Brawl, or box toppers, or cards which only appear in ze toolkit etc. Have to squint to read them, can tell them a mile off without any conditioning. I swear they use different ink.

I absolutely adore Giant's Grasp though, that's a good one. and they made that really cosy affinity-for-enchantments Giant in Theros recently and I wanna use both cards somehow. I kinda maintain a blue auras matter deck so I'm gonna stubbornly try and run them together :3

That's less exciting for what it is than it's exciting for what it's signposting.

With most of these tribal cards, I think it all depends on the quality of the general they make for them.

Rise of the Dread Marn looks suuuper fun. Foretell adds another layer of utility to an already pretty sweet instant card. Probably I'll want a copy for Varina.

Rise seems like a fantastic card to me. Last year we got Liliana's Standard Bearer. Now we got this. More ways to benefit from a board wipe or from sacrificing your board. Gotta love it!

Blood on the Snow seems like another solid sweeper for Snow decks, and the option to just dumpster the superfriends player is handy to have.

I just converted my Gonti, Lord of Luxury deck to a snow base - for Dead of Winter and Extraplanar Lens - and Blood on the Snow will do just fine in that deck.
Sure, that's some mana to spend, but i'm not aiming for a high power level and a wrath plus a revive? Sounds good to me, even without any dedicated Superfriend decks in my meta.

I am guessing the new Tibalt can be a commander (front side is legendary creature)
And that even though the front card is monoblack the CI would be BR

If so, step aside Mogis, I have a new commander for my creatureless Panharmonicon deck.

That would be correct. Just like Archangel Avacyn // Avacyn, the Purifier is a R/W card for the purposes of color identity, so too would the new tibalt be a B/R color identity.

I know they're gonna get hated on since the EtB Tapped, but fetchable snow duals is awesome for budget players. Goes a long way towards letting pleebs play base-green 3+ Color decks utilizing Farseek, Nature's Lore, Skyshroud Claim, Wood Elves, and now Into the North as ultimate fixing.

Fetchable snow duals are definitely reasonably playable. Also hot for Into the North having a second dual land target :)

I will get one for Ephara just in case I want to play it. It's not that much worse than the bicycle land which I usually just fetch as a tapped dual when I can afford to eat the tapped mana loss.
